First Days Of Training

The weekend blessed us with great weather as many excited athletes and coaches kicked off this year’s program on Saturday. Everyone responded well to the split daily program and it was pleasing to hear so many positive comments by parents as we finally got the chance to start our program after many months of planning and uncertainty. Mountain staff commented about the exceptional behaviour of our athletes and this is pleasing feedback to receive. I could see first-hand how the coaches maintained tight control on safety and group behaviour as the athletes sensibly went about their training in a controlled and responsible way. Some great photos also of the hiking around the mountain and I am sure much fun was had by all.

Buller Ski Lifts did an amazing job of getting Bourke street operational and the Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management Board continues to show great leadership in managing the resort and its stakeholders.

Keep up the great work and keep healthy as we head into a period of unsettled conditions which will bring cold conditions and snow.....!

Skills Assessment
Skills Assessment

This year, MBRC and Snow Australia will be changing the way skills assessment is delivered. A national approach will be changed to a club approach, and we will go a step further by having an early and late season assessment. The skills of balance, rotary , edging and pressure control are relative to both alpine and snowboard athletes in the program.

The initial assessment will enable us to monitor the skills that are in need of work and give the coaches a framework to make a plan to improve these over the season. This will also help the coaches relate the drills they do with the athletes to the skills.

Skills Assessment

Skills form the basis of the athlete’s foundation and these skills will never leave them whether they are on the world cup or skiing powder in the back country. This applies to alpine and snowboard athletes in the program and forms part of long term athlete development.

Due to the current conditions, we will change the assessment process and will endeavour to do this in separate parts in the coming weeks. We will therefore not have a specified day where this happens and will adjust the "RTP" accordingly.

Reminders

  • Parents Coach Meeting this weekend will be delivered by a Zoom meeting with the coach. More details will follow by email.
