MBRC Easter Camp  at Mt Buller was well attended by 30 athletes who participated in a variety of activities in the sports hall, gym and in the mountain environment. The camp was a great opportunity for everyone to make new friends and enjoy the team spirit of MBRC while enjoying some physical activity. On the last day, athletes either rode down the river trail to Mirrimbah or hiked to the summit and finished off the camp with a fantastic BBQ. Many thanks to the parents that volunteered to help at the BBQ and afterwards at the working bee to rip up the old carpet in the coach’s accommodation. Also, thanks to the Jessica Haslau, Georgia Von Einem, Rhys Artridge and Richard Haslau for coaching over the three days.

The Physical Capability Assessment had over 60 participants attend the session at Hoop City in Cheltenham. It was a fantastic turn out of athletes from ages 8 to 18 and was extremely pleasing to see the effort from the athletes as they performed the set tasks and the overall interest in the program from parents. The assessment gave coaches a chance to see the results of many months hard work from the athletes as they prepare for the coming MBRC programs and to get a broader picture of how the club is performing in these areas. Particular attention was paid toward athletes strengths and areas where improvements can be made to maximise on snow training and prevent injury. Above all else this was a great opportunity for athletes to take part in an off season club activity and learn to understand that assessments of this type will be more common as they progresses through the athlete pathway.

Many thanks to Georgia, Lisa, Rachel, Rhys, Joe, Richard, Simon Kelly and Hoop City for making this happen.

Equipment

Hopefully everyone has taken advantage of the recent offerings we have sent out from Altitude Kooroora Mt Buller and products they carry such as Rossignol and Head Skis as well as the offer from Volkl earlier in the year. I have had many questions about equipment needs for this season which is great and will allow everyone to hit the snow on the correct equipment for the school holidays.

Zena sports have been producing excellent protective equipment for many years and is highly recommended for women and girls in a variety of different contact sports. Worth having a look at for skiing and snowboarding and must be worn underneath a race suit or jacket/soft shell at all times, so it is necessary to check the fit underneath your current or new suit/jacket etc. See details about Zena here

St Catherine’s annual ski swap is on Sunday 16th May. Be sure to look carefully when buying secondhand equipment and we advise strongly not buy secondhand helmets or boots. For more click here for more information or see the flyer below.

Race Training Program Update
  Race Training Program Update

The Race Training Program "RTP" has been recently updated to include the revised snowboard program days and also the full time dry land training days for term 3 at Mt Buller.

Be sure to always check the RTP whenever making plans before and during the season and we will endeavour to inform everyone when it is updated. This is the bible when it comes to days on and off for all programs and can be found on the home page and by clicking on the snowflake icon.
